Van Aert lands 2nd place in final stretch of Paris-Roubaix
Dutch rider Dylan Van Baarle won this year’s Paris-Roubaix cycling race well ahead of his closest rivals. This is the first big victory for the 29-year-old. Flemish rider Wout van Aert, who was convalescing from Covid, was second. It’s the first time the champion has finished in the Top 3. Stefan Küng of Switzerland was with third.
After last year’s wash out the riders of this 119th edition of the cycling classic faced a particularly desiccated route including thirty stretches over cobblestones covering a total of 55 kilometres. As ever this challenge resulted in a spectacular clash of the Titans.
