VGMA23: My delay to perform was intentional – Stonebwoy reveals
Reggae/Dancehall musician, Stonebwoy, has revealed that his performance at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs) held over the weekend, was intentionally delayed.
According to him, even though the delay was longer than expected, the production team wanted his arrival on stage to be a surprise to the audience and viewers.
Instead, the delay left the audience and viewers at home questioning whether or not he would show up to perform.
Speaking to Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM, on Monday, he said, “honestly, I don’t know what was happening in the back [to cause the delay] but we all understand stuff happen and eventually we had a good show.”
The plan was not to come on the stage immediately, so it worked (in our favour). It’s been a while since I have been on there, so the plan was supposed to make it feel like I won’t be there,” he added.
Stonebwoy returned to the VGMA stage after a two-year absence. He won three awards namely; Music For Good, Vodafone Green and Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year.
He was billed to perform as well. His performance was preceded by a dance performance by a cultural troupe from the School of Performing Arts, University of Ghana.
However, after failing to show up on stage some minutes after he was announced to perform, some fans began to question if he would show up.
Taking to Twitter, some fans thought VGMA and Stonebwoy might not have patched up their differences after all. Read More...
