Vietnamese fashion expands to the global stage
Vietnamese fashion is making a significant impact on the global stage, with outfits by local designers increasingly being worn by international celebrities. Designers such as Cong Tri, Do Manh Cuong, Chung Thanh Phong, Le Thanh Hoa, and Nguyen Minh Tuan are gaining worldwide recognition for their unique and captivating creations.
This global rise in Vietnamese fashion is bolstered by several high-profile fashion shows, most notably the Vietnam International Fashion Week, the Elle Fashion Show, the Dep (Beautiful) Fashion Show, and SR Celebrating Local Pride. Among these, the Vietnam International Fashion Week stands out as a key event that has become a must-attend for fashion enthusiasts. Celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, the biannual event, held in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, symbolizes a decade of international integration for Vietnamese fashion.
Trang Le, the founder of Vietnam International Fashion Week, highlighted the event's role as a critical bridge connecting Vietnamese fashion with the global market. "We aim to transform Vietnam into a nation with a thriving fashion industry," she emphasized, underscoring the ambition behind the event.
In addition to showcasing established designers, the SR Celebrating Local Pride show serves as a platform for emerging talent, giving young designers the opportunity to present their creativity to a broader audience.
Over the past 30 years, Vietnamese fashion has made remarkable progress, with many designs achieving global acclaim. Celebrities worldwide have been seen wearing Vietnamese outfits on red carpets, in music videos, and during stage performances. Prominent designers like Cong Tri, Do Manh Cuong, Quynh Paris, Le Thanh Hoa, Chung Thanh Phong, Nguyen Minh Tuan, Do Long, Tran Phuong Hoa, Tra Linh, and Anh Thu have played a pivotal role in this international recognition.
Furthering the globalization of Vietnamese fashion, younger designers such as Tran Hung, Phan Dang Hoang, and Diep Yen have successfully showcased their collections at major international fashion events, including London Fashion Week, New York Fashion Week, Paris Fashion Week, and Milan Fashion Week. Their participation in these prestigious events not only highlights their individual talents but also cements Vietnam’s place in the global fashion industry.
