What are the prices in state and private kindergartens in Serbia?
Placement in kindergartens is certainly one of the biggest problems that parents face. The limited capacities of state preschool institutions are generally the first obstacle.
For those who do not succeed, there are private kindergartens where, as Danas reporter's research shows, the prices are such that a small number of families can provide accommodation for their children in them.
The situation is particularly difficult in those cities where subsidies, if any, represent only a small part of the amount that needs to be allocated.
Zrenjanin: Only one private kindergarten
In the area of Zrenjanin, the most developed type of work with preschool children is within the city's preschool institution, which has 20 kindergartens.
The capacity of this institution is a maximum of 2,500 children, which is usually filled during the school year.

The Zrenjanin preschool has nursery groups, kindergarten groups and a preschool program, and children can attend classes for 4 hours or 8 hours.
"Some parents send their children only to classes, some leave them for a snack, and some pay for the complete program, which also includes sleeping. Their monthly expenses differ to that extent," explained the legal service of the PU Zrenjanin.
Unemployed parents and parents with three or more children are entitled to free use of the kindergarten in Zrenjanin.
Other users pay 10 or 20 percent of the total cost of kindergartens, depending on their personal income, while the rest is covered by the city of Zrenjanin from its budget. Read More…
