The custom of spilling water on someone we wish success to dates back to ancient times.
Spilling or spilling water is a Serbian folk custom. According to the belief among Serbs, spilling water on a person who goes on a trip or does a job, brings happiness, and is done in order to finish the job or the trip happily.
It is also practiced when going to school, for an exam, a job interview, going to the army and the like.
