History of World Photography Day
Frenchmen Louis Daguerre and Joseph Nicephore Niepce developed the first photographic process in the year 1837. Interestingly, it was named ‘Daguerreotype’.
The process gained much traction as it more accurate and inexpensive way to represent faces and scenes. It was a respite from painting by hand which was more time-consuming.

As the process became famous, photo studios started coming up across the world.
On August 19, 1839, then French government bought the invention's patent and gave it as a gift to the world. Therefore, this day came to be oberved as World Photography Day later on.
