Zalo remains Vietnam’s most used messaging app in 2022
Zalo remains the most popular messaging app in Vietnam with an 87% usage rate in 2022. Its closest competitors are Facebook with a 72% usage rate, Messenger with 58%, and Instagram with 15%, according to a recent report by Mobile Marketing Association Vietnam and Decision Lab.
Zalo is part of VNG, one of Vietnam’s most valuable tech companies.
The success of VNG’s offering can be attributed to its ability to localize features for Vietnamese users, which Tech in Asia previously analyzed here.
The app has consistently upgraded its safety and security features, such as by launching end-to-end encryption in May 2022. The report also notes that Zalo is getting more popular among Gen Z, who are users aged 16 to 25 years old. Read More…
