Zanzi Half Marathon has been postponed to June 2025
Zanzi Half Marathon has been rescheduled from its initial December 2024 date in Stone Town, Zanzibar.
The yearly race, which is hosted by the running club Kimbia Bila Shaka in Zanzibar, attracts runners from around the world as well as locals. In addition to 10km and 5km races and a 5km walking category, the event includes a 21km half marathon.
The marathon will now take place on June 28, 2025, following careful deliberation and feedback from partners and participants, according to Club Founder and Race Organizer Laura Bjorn, who spoke with the "Sunday News" from Zanzibar yesterday.
Club's Pioneer and Race Coordinator, Laura Bjorn, told the 'Sunday News' from Zanzibar yesterday that after cautious thought and input from members and accomplices, the choice was made to move the long distance race to June 28, 2025.
"This choice is driven by a few factors that we accept will improve the experience, future effect and solace for all interested parties," Laura made sense of.
She emphasized that many runners wished for cooler weather because December heat in Zanzibar can be challenging.
"By rescheduling the rush to June, we return to our 'underlying foundations' offering a more happy with, invigorating and pleasant occasion for all members," she noted.
Bjorn likewise expressed that the new date adjusts better to the timetables of other running occasions in the area. It demonstrates the club's commitment to fostering a positive, cooperative atmosphere and expanding sports.
