10. Turkey: Fairytale Landscapes
Turkey’s landscape is almost unlike anywhere else in Europe. Sitting in its unique position at the crossroads between East and West (remember part of it sits in Asia too) it’s a country of extremes, with tall peaks found in the Taurus mountains and beautiful coastlines and beaches found along its Mediterranean and Black Sea shores.
For a really spectacular and unforgettable trip, however, it’s all about Cappadocia. The wind-sculpted landscape has created small stupa like peaks known as ‘fairy chimneys’. You can enjoy this spectacular scenery either on foot, by bike or horseback, or if you’re feeling even more adventurous, hot air balloon.
