Ahly Unveil Squad for FIFA Intercontinental Cup Semi-Final
Egyptian and African champions Ahly have announced their squad for the upcoming FIFA Intercontinental Cup semi-final, set to take place on Saturday in Doha. The team will face the winner of the game between Brazil's Botafogo and Mexico's CF Pachuca in the Challenger Cup semi-final.
Ahly secured their spot in the semi-final after defeating Al-Ain FC of the United Arab Emirates 3-0 in the opening game of the inaugural FIFA Intercontinental Cup, earning the title of the African-Asian-Pacific Cup.
The squad will travel to Doha on Tuesday, with several prominent players missing due to injuries, including goalkeeper Mostafa Shobeir, wing-back Karim Fouad, right-back Mohamed Hani, and left-back Ali Maaloul. Defender Yousef Ayman was also omitted from the squad for technical reasons.
The full squad is as follows:
Goalkeepers: Mohamed El-Shennawy, Hamza Alaa, and Mostafa Makhlouf.
Defenders: Khaled Abdel-Fatah, Omar Kamal, Rami Rabia, Yasser Ibrahim, Achraf Dari, Karim El-Debis, and Yahia Attiyat Allah.
Midfielders: Akram Tawfik, Marwan Attia, Amr El-Soulaya, Emam Ashour, Omar El-Saaiy, Taher Mohamed Taher, Mohamed "Afsha" Magdy, Ahmed "Kouka" Nabil, Karim Walid, Mostafa Abu-Elkhier, Percy Tau, Reda Selim, Hussein El-Shahat, and Mohamed Abdallah.
Forwards: Mahmoud "Kahraba" Abdel-Moneim, Wessam Abou Ali, and Samir Mohamed.
The winner of Saturday's game will face European champions Real Madrid in the final on December 18.
