Air India To Hold Discussions After Pilot Unions Threaten To 'Go To Any Extent'
The airline is expected to hold a town hall meeting on April 25th.
Air India is expected to hold a town hall meeting today to discuss the issues raised by pilot unions over their salaries. The airline recently revised the pay structure of its cockpit and cabin crew, but certain new conditions have not gone down well with many of the carrier’s pilots.

Air India will hold a town hall meeting on April 25th to listen to the issues some employees have over the recently revised salary structure. A report by Moneycontrol says that the meeting will also be attended by the airline’s Chief Executive Officer, Campbell Wilson, along with other top executives.
Many pilots have not signed the new salary contract. The latest development comes a day after the two pilot unions, Indian Commercial Pilots’ Association (ICPA) and Indian Pilots’ Guild (IPG), threatened that they would go to any extent in case the management acts against any member for not signing the revised terms and conditions. On April 21st, the two unions also sent legal notices to Air India.

What’s the issue?
Among the biggest issues that the unions have with the revised salary terms is the airline’s assurance of 40 hours of flying allowance every month. This was 70 hours in the pre-pandemic days. Read More…
