Albania U-17 National Team Coach Andrea Tedesco Discusses Team Preparations
Andrea Tedesco, the newly appointed coach of the Albania U-17 National Team, has been actively preparing the squad of young talents born in 2009. The team played two friendly matches against Hungary at the “House of Football” as part of their preparations for the upcoming U-17 European Championship, set to take place in Albania in May.
In a statement to fshf.org following the second match, Coach Tedesco expressed his satisfaction with the atmosphere within the squad and highlighted the importance of monitoring the development of young players in football.
Positive Atmosphere and Team Development
“We are very satisfied for many reasons,” Tedesco remarked. “Firstly, because the Association has asked me in recent weeks to also coach the U-16 team. We have had little time together, just two and a half days, and from many boys, we managed to put a team on the field. The result does not matter, because today it could have gone better, as well as in the first match. But in youth football, it is important to see the performance and the growth that the boys show during their time with us, but also throughout a longer journey.”
Tedesco emphasized the significance of creating a positive environment for young players, stating, “I am very happy with the staff I have recently met. Even though we have only been working together for a few weeks, a new staff, a positive atmosphere has been created immediately. This is important, especially when working with young players who need to grow, believe in themselves, and represent their country.”
Focus on the U-17 European Championship
Looking ahead, Tedesco acknowledged the need to shift focus towards the U-17 European Championship finals. “Now we close one door and open another because we need to focus on the U-17 European Championship finals and the U-17 team, with which we will gather in March. We need to try to improve the squad a bit,” he emphasized.
The coach expressed gratitude towards his staff for their collaboration and the Federation for the opportunity to lead both the U-16 and U-17 teams. “Now that we have a staff capable of calmly organizing daily activities together, I want to thank them. I also want to thank the Federation for entrusting me with the U-16 team, but especially for the opportunity to participate in the U-17 European Championship, which we will start working on from tomorrow as we set aside the U-16,” Tedesco concluded.
As the Albania U-17 National Team prepares for the European Championship, Coach Andrea Tedesco’s focus on player development and team cohesion will be crucial. With a positive atmosphere and a commitment to growth, the young talents of Albania are poised to make their mark on the international stage. The upcoming months will be vital as the team continues to refine their skills and strategies in anticipation of the tournament.
