Algerian EdTech LabLabee Closes $3.4 Million Seed Round
LabLabee, an innovative edtech startup based in Algeria, has successfully secured $3.4 million in seed funding to enhance the adoption of 5G, cloud, and AI technologies across the telecommunications and industrial sectors. This funding round was led by Reach Capital, with significant contributions from Classera and support from existing investors Brighteye Ventures and e& capital. Notable business angels, including Cedric Sellin and Mohammed Husamaddin, also participated in this investment effort.
LabLabee aims to solidify its leadership position in the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) regions while planning to expand into the US market. The startup is looking to forge partnerships with major cloud providers such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to facilitate this growth.
To broaden its educational offerings, LabLabee plans to introduce new hands-on training labs focused on technologies like VMware, Redhat, and Windriver. The company is dedicated to enhancing the learning experience through immersive features, including a sandbox environment where users can learn, practice, and test their skills within a single platform.
LabLabee's mission is to improve the learning experience by focusing on topics relevant to the fourth industrial revolution, such as telco security, AI applications in telecommunications, and edge computing. The startup collaborates with various organizations, including telecom operators, vendors, and educational institutions, to integrate practical exercises into training programs. This approach not only reduces costs but also enhances skill development, addressing the significant skills gap in cloud-native technologies among telecom operators.
To support its growth and better serve its expanding customer base, LabLabee plans to increase its international workforce by hiring specialists in engineering, sales, and customer support. Founded in 2021 by Samir Tahraoui and Mahfoud Sidi Ali Mebarek, LabLabee focuses on providing practical, hands-on learning experiences centered around cutting-edge network technologies.
Esteban Sosnik, co-founder at Reach Capital, praised LabLabee for its commitment to addressing skill shortages in the telecom sector, highlighting the founders' deep technical expertise and industry insights. Samir Tahraoui emphasized that LabLabee’s solutions are designed to simplify the learning process, making it quicker and more practical for professionals navigating rapidly evolving tech landscapes.
With this new funding, LabLabee is well-positioned to enhance its educational offerings and expand its reach in the global market. By focusing on practical training and addressing the skills gap in advanced technologies, LabLabee is set to play a crucial role in shaping the future of telecom education in the EMEA region and beyond.
