An illegal python was discovered in Lazarevac, and a lion cub was discovered in Subotica
Members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Belgrade and Subotica, in cooperation with the Unit for Suppression of Environmental Crime and Environmental Protection and basic public prosecutor's offices in Lazarevac and Subotica, filed a criminal complaint against a thirty-six-year-old man due to the existence of grounds for suspicion that he committed criminal acts of illegal trade and destruction , damage, export abroad and import into Serbia of a protected natural asset, as well as against a forty-four-year-old man who is charged with illegal trade and killing and abuse of animals.
Police officers, in cooperation with the veterinary inspection and the environmental protection inspection, during the search of the apartment and other premises of a thirty-six-year-old man in Lazarevac, found a python regius snake, which is a species protected by law.
Also, it is suspected that, in the previous period, he owned and sold an African lion cub to a forty-four-year-old, which the police found in his apartment in Subotica on the same day.
