AN receives formal request from the Venezuelan Coleo Federation to declare this practice as a national sport
This Tuesday afternoon, Raúl García, president of the Venezuelan Coleo Federation, attended the National Assembly (AN) to present a formal request to give the legal name of "national sport" to this practice and be qualified as "cultural heritage". of the nation".
García explained that this activity was born in a large part of the country and that in many places it is called "creole and traditional sport"; however, he hopes that the AN enacts a law that recognizes him as such.
"There was an agreement in which it was named as a Venezuelan Creole sport but we have not managed to make the law (...) we want to honor our discipline with the title of National Sport," Garcia said on Tuesday.
The highest representative of coleus in the country delivered the request to the deputy of the National Assembly, José Gregorio Correa, highlighting that they are members of the Pan-American Confederation of Coleus and are holding 13 contests a year throughout the national territory.
"We hold 13 national championships a year and we participate in national games (...) there are more than 1,500 coleo games in Venezuela, it is a sport that is practiced everywhere," he reiterated.
