Arrest of seven people ordered for disturbance of public peace
The Prosecutor's Office has issued an arrest warrant for seven individuals accused of disturbing public peace and engaging in acts of vandalism near the premises of the Superior Court of Electoral Justice (TSJE).
The individuals in question are Esteban Estrago Queirolo, Rodrigo Piatti Morínigo, Darío Camelli Melgarejo, Jorge Gamarra Brítez, Sebastián Brítez Medina, William Andrés Campuzano, and Adalberto Fernández Mendoza.
The warrant was issued by prosecutors Estefanía González, Fátima Capurro, and Elena Fiore Franco. They submitted the request to the headquarters of the 7th Asunción Police Station as part of an investigation into disturbances of public peace, as reported by the digital newspaper hoy.com.py.
There may be another group of individuals planning acts of vandalism prior to the conclusion of the electoral process at the TSJE.
Meanwhile, the National Police Commander, Crio. Gilberto Fleitas, revealed in an interview with the GEN channel that they have been collaborating with the Cybercrime Department since day one to identify those instigating violence.
"We have identified all those who incite and encourage violence, and they are the ones currently facing arrest warrants," commented Fleitas.
The commander emphasized that these arrests could take place "at any time," but the primary focus is on preventing violent acts. It is important to note that following the general elections on April 30, supporters of a dissatisfied political faction took to the streets in protest, impeding the free movement of vehicles and people.
