Austin Eguavoen still the Super Eagles coach says NFF
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has confirmed that Austin Eguavoen remains the interim coach of the Super Eagles. NFF's Head of Communications, Ademola Olajire, clarified that Eguavoen, who also serves as the NFF's Technical Director, continues in his role with the national team.
Eguavoen was initially appointed to manage the Super Eagles after negotiations with Germany’s Bruno Labbadia fell through. Despite reports suggesting that Eguavoen's role had ended following the Super Eagles' matches against Benin Republic and Rwanda, Olajire stated that nothing has changed regarding his position.
"He remains with the team and is an employee of the NFF, which has drafted him to the Super Eagles. He will continue in this capacity until the federation decides otherwise," Olajire said.
The Super Eagles' next match is scheduled for the third round of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, where they will face Libya in Uyo next month.
