Bicentennial of America Art Exhibition Arrives in Peru
Artist Jaime Vallardo Chávez will visit Peru to showcase the works of over 600 visual artists from across the Americas. The traveling museum exhibition, titled "Bicentennial of America," will present its ninth edition in Peru, commemorating the 200 years of independence achieved by several countries.
The "Bicentennial of America" exhibition was conceived during the Covid-19 pandemic in 2021 in Peru and has since traveled to multiple countries. This project highlights the artistic contributions from across the American continent, celebrating the bicentennial milestones of numerous nations' independence.
Peruvian Artists Recognized
This year, Peruvian artists Óscar Allain Cottera, Julio Quispe Virhuez (Quispejo), and Bruno Portuguez Nolasco will be honored with the title of ambassadors of American art for the Bicentennial of America. Their works will be part of this significant exhibition.
Jaime Vallardo Chávez's Contribution
Jaime Vallardo Chávez, known for his Naif style, which often features the iconic Jícaro tree of Honduras, spearheads this project. His work is a fusion of historical themes and the styles of continental plastic art masters, bringing a unique perspective to the exhibition.
Future Plans
The tenth edition of the "Bicentennial of America" is scheduled to take place at the cultural center of the University of Piura in Lima from November 25 to December 13, 2024. This event will coincide with the closing of the Bicentennial celebrations of Peru, promising a grand finale to this traveling art crusade.
This initiative not only celebrates the rich cultural heritage of the Americas but also fosters unity and appreciation of diverse artistic expressions across the continent.
