Bulgaria's President continues consultations with parliamentary forces on forming a new government

Work on the coalition agreement between "We Continue the Change", the BSP, "There is Such a People" and "Democratic Bulgaria" is still ongoing, it became clear after the start of consultations with President Rumen Radev on December 7.

At the beginning of the meeting, the President pointed out that "There is Such a People" have proven to be part of the change in the country. And he expressed hope that they are ready to contribute to solving the problems in the country.

"Many voters see in you hope for a new and frank policy that clearly names problems and solutions, and not sweep them under the carpet. 09:04 - I am convinced that the commitment you have made to seek balance and partnership in a future government, based on integrity, in a political environment in which ignorance and arrogance have prevailed, "Rumen Radev said.

The chair of the parliamentary group of "There is Such a People" Toshko Yordanov assured that they will do everything in their power to have a regular government and will be a predictable partner, because the challenges are now much bigger than 3 months ago.

"We keep our word. Without political hypocrisy we will call things as they are, we will be predictable partners if the other coalition partners are. The GERB and MRF model is still not broken and I hope there is enough common sense in other political parties to reach compromises, to specify goals in order to have a normal government and the situation in the country to normalize," said Toshko Yordanov, chair of the PG of TISP.

After the meeting, Lyubomir Karimanski explained the red lines that would not be crossed.

"The red line is the line of fairness, integrity, uniform standards and that things should be discussed in a coalition, when it is said that a class A team is chosen, then all those CVs which are from a class A team should be put on the table," Lubomir Karimanski from PG of "There is Such a People" said.

By voting for you, Bulgarian citizens have shown that they need uncompromising protection of the rule of law and an end to abuses of power, said President Radev at a meeting with the leadership of Democratic Bulgaria.

"You have a responsibility to commit to consistently upholding your goals and priorities for the rule of law and modernizing the country, and to show that they can and should be the goals and priorities of a government, regardless of its formula," President Radev said.

Hristo Ivanov expressed hope that this time the Parliament will be able to nominate a regular government, but for him the most important thing is how it will work after its formation. He said it was a positive fact that the new government would work without the MRF and GERB.

"The other possibility facing this governance is the restart of the Prosecutor's office and the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) We will work for a constitutional change, not just nominating a new composition of the inspectorate and the SJC, and not just trying to exert public influence on Chief Prosecutor Ivan Geshev to resign, because that is what should happen," said Hristo Ivanov - chair of the PG of "Democratic Bulgaria". Read More…
