Cameroon: Akwa canton has a new king
The consultations were presided by the Wouri divisional officer, Benjamin Mboutou. It took place last March 15, 2022 at the Akwa city hall.
20 traditional rulers from the Bonambela village joined their voices to call on their ancestors so as to lead them in installing the new Chief of Akwa.
It was followed by the intronisation of Louis Din Dika as the new Chief. A situation satisfactory for the other traditional rulers, “it is a great day for our canton. The choice we made was in due respect of our traditions and the legal aspect receiving the D.O’s approval,” says his majesty Gabriel Eteki.
Louis Din Dika is said to have the required attitude to lead his people. Age 42, he is described as calm, determined, methodic, someone having a high listening capacity and a sound organisation skill.
The installation ceremony also saw the participation of prominent elites of Bonambela who promised to assist the new Chief, “it is a new era for Akwa people that opens itself. The new king has the necessary support from both elites and the population. We take the oath of helping him in gathering and strengthening our canton,” explains Honorable Albert Dooh-Collins.
His majesty Louis Din Dika is a graduate of the Medicine and Biomedical science faculty, 2005 batch. Specialised in public health, he has worked at the Limbe district and later on at the Littoral Public Health delegation as head of the health unit division.
He replaces his father, Din Dika Akwa III being blessed by other traditional rulers and the administration but with a part of the population saying he is an impostor.
