Cameroon FA chief Samuel Eto'o faces 6-month ban by Fifa for misconduct
Samuel Eto'o, the president of the Cameroon Football Federation (Fecafoot), has been handed a six-month ban by FIFA, preventing him from attending any national team matches. This decision comes in response to violations of FIFA's disciplinary regulations. The ban applies to all men's and women's games across different age groups.
The incident that led to this sanction occurred during the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup round-of-16 match between Brazil and Cameroon, held in Bogota, Colombia, on September 11, 2024. While FIFA's disciplinary committee did not disclose specific details about the incident, Eto'o was found guilty of "offensive behavior and violations of the principles of fair play," as well as "misconduct" involving officials.
This ban follows a previous fine imposed on Eto'o by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) less than three months prior, related to alleged breaches of ethical and integrity standards. Eto'o, a former Barcelona striker, has been serving as the president of Fecafoot since 2021. The recent sanctions highlight ongoing scrutiny and challenges he faces in his leadership role within Cameroonian football.
