Canada Sending 338 Athletes to Summer Olympic Games in Paris
Canada's team for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris was officially announced on Tuesday, comprising 338 athletes. The Games will commence with the opening ceremonies on July 26 and conclude on August 11.

"Each athlete has shown exceptional skills and unwavering determination to earn their place, and I have no doubt they will inspire our nation with their performances on the Olympic stage," said chef de mission and Olympic sprinter Bruny Surin. "Canada, go chase your dreams in Paris.”
Medal Contenders
Canada's medal hopefuls span across various sports, with strong expectations in, Swimming, Track and Field, Combat Sports, Rowing, Canoe Sprint, Weightlifting, Three-on-Three Basketball, Breaking (a new Olympic sport)
Notable athletes include swimmer Penny Oleksiak, Canada's most decorated Olympian with seven career medals, and sprinter Andre De Grasse, who has six medals.
Canada will have six teams in Paris, including the men's and women's basketball teams and the defending women's soccer champions. A total of 38 athletes on the team already own Olympic medals, and 142 have previous Summer Games experience.
Youngest athlete is Toronto skateboarder Fay De Fazio Ebert at 14 and the oldest athlete is Dressage equestrienne Jill Irving of Moncton, Ont., at 61.
Return to Full-Scale Games
Athletes will have the support of friends and family on-site in Paris, unlike the Tokyo 2020 Games where spectators were not allowed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. "These Games mark a return to the full scale of the Games we haven’t had the opportunity to experience in a long time," said COC chief sport officer Eric Myles. "From packed stadiums and having families and friends on hand, to being able to welcome the world to Canada Olympic House, Paris 2024 will be a moment to cherish for us all.”
