Over 30 years after his passing, Chalino Sánchez, often hailed as the Godfather of Corrido, continues to be a significant figure in Mexican musical culture. In an exciting development for fans, his iconic 1992 album, Nieves de Enero, will be re-released in a special edition LP format.
This newly remastered album marks the first return of Nieves de Enero to vinyl in over three decades. It features all-analog mastering by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio, preserving the original artwork on the LP cover.
Originally released in 1992, Nieves de Enero highlights Chalino's collaboration with Nacho Hernández and Los Amables del Norte. The album includes the title track, written by Mario Molina Montes and popularized by Chalino, alongside hits such as "Florita del Alma" and "Me Lleva tu Sombra."
Chalino Sánchez's music, particularly his stirring corridos, has had a lasting impact on immigrant communities across the United States, evoking memories of home for many. Songs like "El Crimen de Culiacán," "Hermanos Mata," "Juan Ayón," and "Martin Félix" unfold as real-life docudramas, resonating deeply with listeners.
The love songs and corridos on Nieves de Enero are as legendary as Chalino himself, capturing epic stories of tragedy and bravery. This re-release not only commemorates Chalino Sánchez's enduring legacy but also brings his timeless music to a new generation of listeners.
