Diabetes and obesity: Free campaign to rule out these diseases
According to the Ministry of Health (MINSA) 4.5% of people over 15 years of age suffer from diagnosed diabetes and of this total only 69.6% received medical treatment. Diabetes is a chronic disease that occurs when the pancreas does not produce enough insulin or when the body cannot effectively use the insulin it produces, with the main effect being an increase in blood sugar levels. Nowadays even pregnant women can suffer from this disease.
Likewise, obesity has also become a dangerous and increasing pathology, especially due to the pandemic. According to MINSA, 15 million people, which represents 62% of the Peruvian population over 15 years of age, are overweight and obese. However, some people do not diagnose these diseases in time, causing them to be prolonged.
Campaign against Diabetes and Obesity
For this reason, in order to serve a growing group of vulnerable population, chronically neglected with an insufficient level of access to public and private health services, the "Campaign to Fight Diabetes and Obesity " was created by the Clinic Diabetika that will take place from Saturday August 27 to the end of September.
