Ecuador Ethnographic Film Festival opens 2023 calls
This year, in September, the Ethnographic Film Festival will celebrate its eighth edition, and its call is now open for all those filmmakers who want to participate.
This edition focuses on Historical Memories. "We understand memory as a situated social process, a horizon that transgresses and puts official history in tension," says the organization.
“We are interested in thinking about historical memories not only as images of the past, but also as anticipated memories that allow us to glimpse other futures ”, they add.
The call is aimed at audiovisual productions that can be related to ethnofiction, collaborative methodologies, autoethnographies, indigenous ethnographies, memories and heritage, documentaries, non-fiction, afro-futurisms, indigenous futures, artistic productions, dissidence, counterculture, and found footage .
“In the same way, we are looking for projects that incorporate new formats: animations, audio, transmedia documentaries, and other proposals” , indicates the organization.
The bases indicate that the duration of the films is understood as follows: short films, no longer than 20 minutes; medium-length films, between 21 and 40 minutes. And feature films, between 41 minutes and no longer than 120 minutes. Read More…
