Egyptian trapper Wegz unveils clip for “ElBakhtâ€
Originally from the Al Wardian neighborhood in Alexandria, Wegz has been putting his stamp on rap since 2017. At 24 years old, he has already distinguished himself with influences from r&b, pop, trap, drill, mumble, and gnawa. On this new single, Wegz tests out his afrobeats influences after having featured alongside the chameleon of Moroccan rap, El Grande Toto, in his last clip.
On a swinging beat produced by Rahal, Wegz avoids the ego tripping clichés to offer a track of haunted romanticism. He expresses his feelings of unrequited love with a voice coated in autotune: “Taking a chance, I asked her out and she rejected me. She surprised me. Where is my prestige?
