FIBA EuroBasket 2025 Groups Announced
The excitement for FIBA EuroBasket 2025 is building as the groups have been officially drawn in a ceremony held in Riga, Latvia. This highly anticipated event revealed the matchups for the 42nd edition of Europe’s premier basketball tournament, featuring 24 nations competing for glory.
The Draw Ceremony
The draw took place on Thursday, with FIBA legends Rudy Fernandez, a four-time champion and event ambassador, and Nikos Zisis, who lifted the trophy in 2005, assisting in the process. The event was attended by notable figures, including Latvia's Minister of Economics, Viktors Valainis, and the Mayor of Riga, Vilnis Kirsis, alongside FIBA officials and delegations from the four co-hosting nations.
Group Allocations
The teams were sorted into four groups based on their seedings, which were determined by the FIBA World Ranking Men, presented by NIKE. The groups are as follows:
- Group A: Serbia, Latvia, Czechia, Türkiye, Estonia, Portugal
- Group B: Germany, Lithuania, Montenegro, Finland, Great Britain, Sweden
- Group C: Spain, Greece, Italy, Georgia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cyprus
- Group D: France, Slovenia, Poland, Israel, Belgium, Iceland
Each of the four co-hosts was pre-assigned to their respective groups, with Group A matches taking place in Riga, Latvia; Group B in Tampere, Finland; Group C in Limassol, Cyprus; and Group D in Katowice, Poland. Additionally, each co-host selected a partner country to join them in their group, resulting in agreements between Latvia and Estonia, Finland and Lithuania, Cyprus and Greece, as well as Poland and Iceland.
Tournament Schedule
FIBA EuroBasket 2025 will kick off with the Group Phase from August 27 to September 5, 2025. Following this, the Final Phase will be held exclusively in Riga from September 6 to 14, culminating in the crowning of the European champions.
