Gaza Death Toll Tops 39,600 Amid Relentless Israeli Attacks
The ongoing conflict in Gaza has resulted in at least 39,623 deaths since October 7, 2023, according to the Gaza Health Ministry. In the latest wave of violence, 40 more Palestinians were killed, and 71 others were injured in what the ministry described as two "massacres" against families within the last 24 hours. The overall injury count has now reached approximately 91,469.
The humanitarian situation in Gaza continues to deteriorate, with many people still trapped under rubble and on the roads, inaccessible to rescuers. The conflict has persisted despite a United Nations Security Council resolution calling for an immediate cease-fire, which Israel has defied, leading to widespread international condemnation.
Nearly ten months into the conflict, Gaza faces severe destruction and a crippling blockade that restricts access to essential supplies like food, clean water, and medicine. Israel has been accused of genocide by the International Court of Justice, which has ordered an immediate halt to its military operations, particularly in the southern city of Rafah. Rafah has become a refuge for over 1 million Palestinians since its invasion by Israeli forces on May 6.
