Good news for office workers... Even exercising on the weekend is effective
Regular aerobic exercise for 150 minutes or more per week significantly reduces cardiovascular disease and cancer mortality. I wish I could do this exercise every day. Busy office workers often have no choice but to work on the weekends.
Recently, a paper comparing the effects of daily exercise versus weekend exercise was published in the Journal of the American Medical Association. The study looked at 35978 healthy Americans. The exercise pattern was investigated, and the group was divided into a group that exercised less than 150 minutes per week and did not exercise enough; did.
As a result of the study, a total of 21,898 people died, 4,130 from cardiovascular disease and 6,034 from cancer. Compared with the lack of exercise group, the daily and weekend exercise group had a lower mortality rate. Comparing the daily exercise group and the weekend exercise group, the overall mortality rate of the daily exercise group was 8%, the cardiovascular disease mortality rate was 14%, and the cancer mortality rate was 7%, but there was no statistical difference between the two groups.
To get the most out of your workouts, you need to exercise at moderate to high intensity. Moderate or higher means shortness of breath and sweating all over the body after exercise. When you exercise to this extent, cardiovascular functions including the heart can be improved, and beneficial metabolic effects such as lowering insulin resistance (a factor that induces diabetes) through muscle strengthening can be obtained. The results of the study are good news for those who do a lot of exercise on the weekend. Read More…
