Goodbye Art Exhibition at National Museum
The Vietnam Museum of Fine Arts is currently hosting an intriguing exhibition titled "Goodbye Art," featuring 20 contemporary artworks by Vietnamese artist He Quach Bac. This exhibition blurs the boundaries between art and commerce, emphasizing the ongoing transactional nature of art buying and selling.
Exhibition
Key Installation: The centerpiece of the exhibition is an installation named "(Goodbye my art)ⁿ," which takes a mathematically-inspired approach to Quach Bac's works. This installation symbolizes the endless cycle of transactions in the art world, where certificates and artworks become infinitely intertwined.
Artist’s Vision: Quach Bac describes the exhibition as a farewell to the past and a welcoming of new beginnings. He views saying goodbye to art not as an end but as an opportunity for innovation and discovery, reaffirming the artist's commitment to endless creativity.
Unique Artworks: Using traditional painting techniques on used acrylic material, Quach Bac reproduces and enlarges ordinary certificates of authenticity for artworks. These transformed certificates become humorous and surprising works of art that challenge the viewer's perception of value in art.
Goodbye Art is Quach Bac's fourth solo exhibition, following Waterscape, Falling into the Horizon, and Sky of Fame. Born in 1988 in Hanoi, Quach Bac has participated in 20 group exhibitions across Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
The Goodbye Art exhibition is organized by Chau & Co Gallery and curated by Hoang Minh Chau.
The exhibition offers a unique perspective on the art world, encouraging visitors to reconsider the significance of authenticity certificates and the ongoing transaction process in the art market. It is open to the public at the Vietnam Museum of Fine Arts.
