Greece Loses to Germany in EuroBasket Quarter Final
Greece lost the chance to progress to the EuroBasket 2022 semifinals after losing to co-hosts Germany 107-96.
Greece was winning 61-57 at halftime but collapsed in the second half when Germany came back with a spectacular third period and some tremendous three-point shooting (17-30).
Giannis Antetokounmpo was ejected from the game after he was assessed with two unsportsmanlike fouls, the latter coming with 4:56 left in the fourth quarter and Greece trailing by 14 points.
Dennis Schröder scored a team-high 26 points and dished out five assists before he got ejected late in the fourth period with a fifth foul.
Andreas Obst added 19 points while Franz Wagner also dropped 19 points and, together with Daniel Theis (13 points, 16 rebounds), was a pivotal part of Germany’s “Wall Defense” that contained Giannis Antetokounmpo for most of the decisive second half.
