Greece to Select Eurovision 2025 Entry on January 29th

Greece is gearing up for an exciting selection process for its entry in the 2025 Eurovision Song Contest, scheduled to take place on January 29th. This year’s selection marks a notable return to a public voting format, which has been absent since 2017, allowing fans to play a significant role in determining the country’s representative.

A total of 187 songs have been submitted for consideration, showcasing a diverse array of talent and musical styles. Following the submission phase, a jury will review these entries and curate a final lineup for the public to vote on. The voting process will be split evenly, with the public vote accounting for 50% of the final score, while the remaining 50% will come from a combination of Greek and international jury votes. This dual approach aims to balance popular opinion with expert insights, ensuring a well-rounded selection process.

This year is particularly special for Greece, as it commemorates the 20th anniversary of its Eurovision victory with Helena Paparizou’s iconic song “My Number One.” Paparizou’s win in 2005 not only brought Greece its first Eurovision crown but also solidified the country’s presence in the contest, making it a significant moment in its musical history. The upcoming selection will undoubtedly evoke nostalgia and excitement among fans as they look forward to the next potential hit.

In the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest, Greece was represented by Marina Satti with the song “ZARI.” Satti delivered a powerful performance that successfully secured a spot in the Grand Final, where Greece ultimately finished in 11th place. This result continues to build on Greece’s legacy in the competition, maintaining its reputation as a strong contender in the annual event.

As Greece prepares for its national selection on January 29th, anticipation is building among fans and artists alike. The return to public voting is expected to invigorate interest in the selection process and engage a broader audience in the Eurovision journey. With a rich history and a vibrant music scene, Greece is poised to make a memorable impact at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2025. Fans will be eagerly watching to see which artist and song will carry the nation’s hopes forward in this beloved international competition.
