Hailey Van Lith Named USA Basketball 3x3 Female Athlete of the Year
Hailey Van Lith has added another impressive accolade to her growing list of achievements, being named the USA Basketball 3x3 Female Athlete of the Year. This recognition was announced alongside the release of the USA Basketball Annual Awards on Monday.
The standout player from TCU's women’s basketball team played a pivotal role in helping Team USA secure a bronze medal at the Olympics last summer. Notably, she was the only active collegiate athlete competing for USA Basketball in both 5-on-5 and 3x3 formats during the event.
Throughout the Olympic medal run, Van Lith led the American team in several key statistical categories, including cumulative scoring (47 points), 2-point shooting percentage (53% on 8-of-15 shooting), and assists (13). Team USA demonstrated resilience by winning six of their final seven games after a challenging start in pool play, where they went 0-3. Van Lith notably contributed a game-high six points in the bronze medal game against Canada.
With this achievement, Van Lith becomes the first TCU basketball player to win an Olympic medal and the first Horned Frog to stand on the Olympic medal podium since Jon Drummond claimed gold with the men’s 4x100 relay team at the 2000 Summer Olympics.
In addition to her international success, Van Lith has been a key player for TCU this season, contributing to the team’s impressive 20-2 record, including an 8-1 mark in Big 12 Conference play. She is currently averaging 18.3 points, 5.8 assists, and 4.5 rebounds per game, ranking seventh nationally in total assists with 127.
TCU will look to continue their strong performance as they return to action against Iowa State on Sunday, February 2. The game is set to tip off at 3 p.m. and will be broadcast on FS1.
