Enchantment is the second album by leading Hungarian folk music band, Borbély Mihály Polygon. Ensemble members include some of the finest musicians in the Hungarian contemporary folk music scene who have performed in the areas of world music, folk, jazz and contemporary music. Mihály Borbély plays woodwinds and saxophone; Miklós Lukács is a cimbalom (hammered dulcimer) maestro; and András Dés is a skilled percussionist.
The band plays engaging instrumental music where folk traditions meet jazz improvisation.
Mihály Borbély says about the album: “The atmosphere and music of our second album is more in-depth and philosophical than that of our previous one. It is at once thoughtful and conscious, while incredibly free. Over the years an almost magical (emotional and musical) empathy has evolved between my colleagues and I. In that blessed, creative climate it was easy to pour a time perspective into sound that is sometimes determined by thousands of years old musical tradition and inspiration, other times by the intonation of the old-old instruments, while on the other side stands 21st century man for whom we formulate our thoughts.
