Japanese Romance Drama Series ‘Beyond Goodbye’ Premieres on Netflix in November
The new Japanese romance drama series Beyond Goodbye is set to premiere on Netflix on November 14, offering a poignant tale of love, loss, and fate. Written by Yoshikazu Okada, known for his work on The 8-Year Engagement and The Last 10 Years, the series stars Kasumi Arimura and Kentaro Sakaguchi in leading roles.
Beyond Goodbye tells the emotionally charged story of Saeko (Arimura), who tragically loses her fiancé, Yusuke, on the day he proposes. Yusuke’s heart is donated to Naruse (Sakaguchi), giving him a second chance at life. As Saeko and Naruse cross paths, Yusuke’s memories begin to resurface in Naruse, connecting them in unexpected ways. Set against the scenic backdrops of Hokkaido and Hawaii, the series delves into the enduring strength of love.
This drama has already made history by being the first Japanese series to be featured in the Onscreen Category at this year’s Busan International Film Festival, which recognizes exceptional streaming dramas. Directed by Hiroshi Kurosaki, Beyond Goodbye marks a continued collaboration with Okada, following their work on the popular NHK series Hiyokko.
The series boasts an impressive supporting cast, including Toma Ikuta, Yuri Nakamura, Tomokazu Miura, Eita Okuno, Ayumi Ito, Issey Ogata, Yuki Saito, Kanji Furutachi, and Yoshiko Miyazaki, promising a deeply moving and visually stunning drama.
