Java House Africa hosts art exhibition and competition for children for its 25th anniversary
Java House Africa celebrated its 25th anniversary by hosting an art exhibition and competition for children aged 6 to 11 under the theme ‘My Beautiful Kenya’. The initiative aimed to inspire young artists to portray the beauty of Kenya's landscapes, culture, wildlife, and people from their unique perspectives. It also reinforced Java House's commitment to fostering creativity and supporting the arts in the community.
Derrick Kabasa, Java Foundation Coordinator, emphasized the importance of the competition in celebrating both Kenya’s beauty and Java House's long-standing connection with art. He highlighted that the event was a key part of their anniversary celebrations, reflecting their dedication to community engagement.
The competition was judged by a panel led by renowned Kenyan artist Zephania Lukamba. Entries were assessed on creativity, originality, presentation, and how well they captured the theme. The contest featured four categories: Best Artwork for ages 9–11, Best Artwork for ages 6–8, Best Overall Artwork, and the People’s Choice Award.
Kristel Alana, Alex Jensen, Lucy Diana, and Razia Biftu were recognized in different categories and awarded Java goodies and cash prizes for their impressive artworks. The winning pieces were inspired by Kenya's rich culture and wildlife, reflecting the talent and imagination of the young participants.
The artworks were displayed in an exhibition accompanying the awards ceremony, and some will be featured on Java's Kiddie Menu, highlighting the brand's commitment to promoting Kenya's beauty through the creativity of its youth.
