'The Magic of Pastels' Opens at PNCA

The Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) inaugurated a captivating solo exhibition titled 'The Magic of Pastels' on Monday, showcasing the remarkable works of celebrated artist Naveed Khan. The exhibition was officially opened by Rahat Saeed, the Operational Manager of the Creative Wing at the Pakistan National History Museum, who commended Khan's significant contributions to the art scene in Pakistan.

In his opening remarks, Saeed praised Khan's unwavering commitment to the pastel medium, stating, "Naveed Khan's dedication to pastels reflects his artistic vision and spirit. His work showcases technical mastery and a profound connection to the world's beauty, inspiring future generations to explore the versatile medium of pastels."

The exhibition presents a comprehensive overview of Khan's twenty-year journey with pastels, featuring an impressive collection of portraits, figures, birds, and landscapes. Renowned for his distinct style, Khan delves into various genres, ranging from hyper-abstraction to realism. His innovative use of light, shadow, and texture challenges traditional perceptions of pastel art in Pakistan, making his work both unique and thought-provoking.

With a career spanning over 15 years, Khan has established himself as a prominent figure in the art world, serving as an artist, educator, critic, and curator. His work has been showcased in nearly 70 national and international exhibitions, including seven solo shows. Among his numerous accolades, he has received over fifty national and international awards, including the prestigious National Award in 2009 from the Government of Pakistan.

In conjunction with the exhibition, PNCA will host a 'Pastels Workshop' led by Naveed Khan on Tuesday (today) from 2 PM to 4 PM. This workshop offers art enthusiasts a unique opportunity to learn from Khan's expertise and explore the techniques that define his artistic practice.

'The Magic of Pastels' not only highlights Naveed Khan's artistic journey but also serves as an inspiration for aspiring artists to embrace the pastel medium. The exhibition stands as a testament to Khan's dedication and skill, reinforcing the importance of innovation and creativity in the evolving landscape of Pakistani art.
