Joà£o Cotrim Figueiredo announces support for Rui Rocha in early IL elections

João Cotrim Figueiredo, who will leave the leadership of the Liberal Initiative (IL) in the early elections in December, announced this Monday his support for deputy Rui Rocha for being “the right person” to lead the party in this new phase.
On Sunday, it was announced that the elections for the executive committee of the Liberal Initiative (IL) will be brought forward and that President João Cotrim Figueiredo will not be a candidate again for the position, a race for which deputy Rui Rocha has already presented himself.
“Count on me, Rui. I enthusiastically support the candidacy that Rui Rocha announced for the position of President of the Executive Committee of the Liberal Initiative”, wrote João Cotrim Figueiredo on social media today.
In the liberal's analysis, “Rui Rocha is the right person to lead the Liberal Initiative in its new phase of growth and affirmation” and will have the “support it needs before and after the election”.
“I have been able to witness the assertive, intelligent, rigorous and irreverent way in which Rui does politics for a long time, whether as a member of the Executive Committee or as a deputy for the Liberal Initiative”, he praised.
Cotrim Figueiredo also highlighted the “tremendous commitment” of the now announcing candidate for leader “in the campaign for this year's legislative elections, a popular and comprehensive campaign, which earned him being elected as the first liberal deputy for the Braga circle”.
“In Parliament, Rui puts his talent, work capacity and self-denial at the service of each case and each cause, with a combative style and a range of topics rare in the Assembly of the Republic”, he underlined, also highlighting the “human qualities notables” by Rui Rocha. Read More…
