Lastest mural of Adry del Rocio found in Chiapas
Adry del Rocío's latest mural, "Guardianes del Agua", is a striking addition to the Chicoasén Dam in Chiapas, Mexico, covering an expansive area of 120 x 200 meters. The mural vividly depicts a child cradling a glowing source of water, surrounded by colorful parrots, native to the region. This imagery honors both the natural beauty of Chiapas and the workers of the Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE), who have maintained the dam, a critical source of clean energy, since its establishment in 1974.
Adry’s mural is deeply symbolic, celebrating life, harmony, and the rich biodiversity of Chiapas. The parrots in the artwork represent the freedom and abundance of the land, while the child signifies future generations entrusted with the preservation of this delicate balance. In her artist statement, Adry refers to the workers as "mystical heirs," recognizing their ongoing efforts to sustain Mexico’s clean energy legacy.
The project was a collaborative effort, with CFE Nacional and Privativo Social Strategy partnering to bring the mural to life. Adry also expressed gratitude to her brother Carlos Alberto and other contributors who helped realize her vision.
As a globally celebrated street artist with over 60 awards, Adry's work on the Chicoasén Dam serves as a powerful tribute to both Mexican culture and the importance of sustainability and environmental stewardship.
