Local Contemporary Art Prize 2025, Sunshine Coast
The Local Contemporary Art Prize 2025 is set to be a highly anticipated annual exhibition at the Caloundra Regional Gallery, celebrating the diverse contemporary arts practices of visual artists from the Sunshine Coast. This event showcases the talent of emerging, mid-career, and established artists residing in the region.
Originally established in 2014 as the Local Artist – Local Content prize by the Friends of the Regional Gallery Caloundra, Inc., the Local Contemporary Art Prize has grown in prestige and recognition over the years. Now in its 11th year, it is regarded as one of the premier art prizes in the Sunshine Coast area.
Caloundra Regional Gallery, in collaboration with the Gallery’s Friends, invites artists from the Sunshine Coast and Noosa regions to submit their works for consideration. Artists working in all mediums are encouraged to participate, with submissions accepted for both 2D and 3D artworks.
From the submitted works, forty finalists will be selected to exhibit their pieces. The total prize pool for the Local Contemporary Art Prize 2025 is $17,000, which will be shared among the winners. This generous prize money is made possible through the support of sponsors, including Friends of the Gallery, Mary Henzell Investments, Local Agent Caloundra, and Community Bank Caloundra – Bendigo Bank.
In addition to the monetary prizes, the winning artwork will be acquired for the Sunshine Coast Art Collection, further enhancing the region's cultural heritage.
The Local Contemporary Art Prize 2025 represents a significant opportunity for artists in the Sunshine Coast and Noosa regions to showcase their creativity and gain recognition. With its focus on local talent and community support, this exhibition not only highlights the vibrant arts scene but also fosters a sense of pride and connection among artists and residents alike. Artists interested in participating should prepare their submissions and be part of this exciting celebration of contemporary art.
