London Tube strikes: Massive queues for buses and trains as expected
Some people will agree, others might say it’s a bit of an over reaction, but commuters have described this morning’s travel problems in London as ‘absolute carnage’.
All tube services are suspended across London and police are at some bus stops to try and control the crowds.
One traveller said police had been called to a bus stop after the driver refused to move because the vehicle was so full.
A spokesman from the Metropolitan Police said that while he was not aware of any reports, it would ‘make sense’ with such large crowds in different areas today for them to factor any disruption into their policing.

LU’s boss warned that the strike will cause ‘big disruption’ and branded it ‘totally unnecessary’. Managing director Mike Brown said in a message to passengers that the company had ‘strained every muscle’ to put together a ‘remarkably fair’ pay offer for the introduction of the new Tubes.
‘I am very sorry your journey has been disrupted. This strike is unnecessary,’ he said.
‘The numbers using London Underground late at night have almost doubled over the last decade, and because of recent sustained investment in modernising your Tube network we can run overnight on Fridays and Saturdays on five lines from later this year.’
