LOT Polish Airlines Achieves Record Growth in 2024 with Fleet Expansion and Financial Success
LOT Polish Airlines, Poland’s national carrier, concluded 2024 with historic achievements, including record-breaking passenger numbers, fleet expansion, and significant financial gains. The airline carried 10.7 million passengers, launched eight new routes, and grew its fleet to 86 aircraft, reinforcing its position as a key player in European aviation.
In terms of financial performance, LOT reported its second-highest results in decades, with revenues reaching PLN 9.93 billion, an operating profit of PLN 805.7 million, and a net profit of PLN 688.5 million. Despite facing increased competition and lower ticket prices, the airline maintained an operating profit margin of 8.1%, thanks to effective network optimization, cost control, and expansion in the charter market. The operational performance was impressive, with over 107,000 flights completed and nearly 250,000 flight hours recorded.
LOT expanded its international reach by introducing eight new routes from Warsaw Chopin Airport, connecting to destinations such as Tashkent, Riyadh, and Lyon. Popular short-haul destinations included London and Bucharest, while long-haul routes to New York and Toronto remained in high demand. The domestic network also thrived, particularly on routes to Kraków, Wrocław, and Gdańsk.
Looking ahead, LOT is set to become the primary airline at Centralny Port Komunikacyjny (CPK), Poland’s upcoming major aviation hub, which is expected to enhance the country’s global aviation connectivity. The airline also made significant strides in the charter flight market, increasing both the number of charter passengers and available seat kilometers.
To enhance the passenger experience, LOT introduced new metal cutlery for Economy Class on long-haul flights, updated crew uniforms inspired by the Young Poland artistic movement, and refurbished Business Lounges in key cities. Additionally, LOT Cargo received two IATA certifications for excellence in transporting perishable goods and safe handling of battery shipments.
With these record-breaking achievements, LOT Polish Airlines is well-positioned for future growth, continuing to strengthen Poland’s aviation sector while offering passengers more destinations and enhanced services.
