Main highlights of Brazilian literature have a guaranteed at international events in the first half of 2023
After its participants closed 2022 with more than US$ 3.7 million in business and expectations, new actions and missions to promote Brazilian literature in the international market are already starting to fill the agenda of Brazilian Publishers — a partnership between the Brazilian Book Chamber (CBL) and the Brazilian Trade and Investment .
The 60th edition of the Bologna Children’s Book Fair, the most important fair dedicated to this genre, takes place from March 6th to 9th and marks the debut of this year’s calendar. In the last edition, the nine Brazilian publishers which participated at the event generated USD 329 thousand, with the sale of physical books and rights. Also in March, The Istanbul Publishing Fellowship, a program that promotes meetings between publishers from several countries to negotiate rights, will take place between the 15th and 17th of the month and will feature Brazil’s participation as well.
Further, between April 18th and 20th, the international publishers present at the London Book Fair can also get ready to discover the best that Brazil has to offer in terms of releases. The event promotes a meeting between editors and other copyright professionals in print media, audio, TV, cinema and digital channels from several countries. In the last edition, the first one back to the in-person format, Brazilian Publishers had an exclusive booth and also supported the trip of a delegation composed of representatives of six publishers, who prospected more than USD 388 thousand during the three days of the event.
In other two highly anticipated literary events taking place at the first half of the year, the Bogotá International Book Fair (April 18th to May 2nd) and the Buenos Aires International Book Fair (April 27th to May 15th), the Program will only participate in the days dedicated to professional meetings, which will take place between April 18th and 20th and April 25th and 27th, respectively.
