Man arrested over rape from Rohingya refugee camp in Cox's Bazar
Members of Armed Police Battalion (APBn) have arrested a Rohingya man on charges of raping a Rohingya woman at a refugee camp in Cox's Bazar's Teknaf upazila.
The arrestee, Abdul Alim (35), son of Mohammad Solaiman, was a resident of Asray camp in Teknaf, reports our Cox's Bazar correspondent quoting SP Tarikul Islam, captain of APBn-16.
The arrest was made this noon following a tip-off at Putibania Rohingya Refugee camp in Teknaf's Unchiprang area.
On information that Abdul Alim raped a woman at a Rohingya camp in Cox's Bazar on May 3, the APBn members conducted a drive and arrested Abdul Alim, SP Tarikul said.
The victim woman was sent to Cox's Bazar Zila Sadar Hospital for medical treatment.
A case was filed in this connection at Teknaf Police Station, he said, adding the arrestee was handed over to the police facility. Read More...
