Noakhali trader dies from heart attack at news of market fire
A fire that broke out at Chowmuhani Bazar in Begumganj upazila of Noakhali last evening was brought under control early today after trying for six hours.
Nine units of firefighters from Noakhali, Lakshmipur and Feni managed to control the blaze around 12:30 am, reports our Noakhali correspondent quoting Jasim Uddin Majumdar, assistant director of Fire Service and Civil Defence in Noakhali.
The fire broke out at the rail station market in Chowmuhani Bazar around 6:30pm yesterday and it soon engulfed Islam Market on Bank Road and Hawk Market, he added.
Hundreds of shops were burned down in the fire, claimed the businessmen of the markets.
Twelve people, including traders and employees of the damaged shops, were injured in the fire, Mizanur Rahman, one of the businessmen said.
Nine of them were given first aid at the Begumganj Upazila Health Complex and the other three were sent to the 250-bed General Hospital in Noakhali, he added. Read More...
