Mozambique: Ilhas da Paz supports thousands of families with food.

According to the representative of Ilhas da Paz, Mehmet Baslik, this year, among the beneficiaries of basic food baskets are the elderly, orphanages, mosques and the Social Services of the Police of the Republic of Mozambique (SSPRM).
Minimising the suffering of families
Mehmet Baslik acknowledges that life is difficult in Mozambique. Still, with the contribution of people and companies of goodwill, they are trying to minimise the suffering of some Mozambican families who find themselves in distressing economic situations. For this reason, the association, Ilhas da Paz, managed to collect about 80 tons of food products to distribute to the needy.
Pope Francis on Fratelli Tutti
The representative of Ilhas da Paz further informed Vatican News that the association hosted, on Thursday, 28 April, a dinner to celebrate human brotherhood. The Maputo event has been inspired by Pope Francis’ encyclical Fratelli Tutti. Invited to the dinner are representatives of various religious denominations and members of the Mozambican Government.
With its Italian title, Fratelli Tutti is the third encyclical of Pope Francis, subtitled “on fraternity and social friendship”. The encyclical calls for more human fraternity and solidarity and is a plea to reject wars.
In the document, fraternity and social friendship are the ways by which Pope Francis indicates to build a better, more just and peaceful world, with the contribution of all: People and institutions. Fratelli Tutti deplores war and globalised indifference.
The document was signed by Pope Francis and the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Ahmad Al-Tayyib, on 4 February 2019 in Abu Dhabi. It has become a flagship document for interreligious dialogue. Read More...
