Minedu: only 5 public universities offer 100% face-to-face classes
Since the end of March, 28 public universities have opened their doors to teach classes again in a pandemic. However, only 5 do it 100% in person, according to the Ministry of Education .
The latter, located outside metropolitan Lima,They are the National University of Barranca , with 1,526 students and 270 courses; the Intercultural Fabiola Salazar Leguía de Bagua, with 551 students; and the Autonomous of Alto Amazonas, with 1,000 enrolled. They also include Juliaca, with 2,500 students; as well as Moquegua, with 2,210 students.
The remaining 23; that is, most of them have a hybrid model, which mixes face-to-face and virtual. For the first case, workshops and laboratories are prioritized, while the theoretical courses are distance learning.
In this way, there are 28 public study houses that have opened their doors since last March 28, which represents 54% of the total. They serve more than 130,000 young people.
According to Minedu, another 15 will begin the semester in May; while eight will do so only between June and August."This difference in the academic calendars corresponds to the rescheduling that they had to carry out at the beginning of the pandemic, since they had to adapt to emergency remote education," the sector said.
