Virtual classes for students adopted in Paraguay in areas affected by wildfires
In response to the ongoing forest fires and heavy smoke affecting areas such as Alto Paraguay and Boquerón, Paraguayan education authorities have transitioned to virtual tutoring to protect the health of students, teachers, and school staff.
On-site classes have been suspended due to concerns over air quality, as part of measures outlined in the National Education Plan for Risk Management and based on recommendations from the Ministry of Public Health and Social Welfare.
The measures will remain in place until air quality improves. Additionally, outdoor activities like sports and recreation have been temporarily halted to prevent respiratory and eye health issues caused by the smoke. The government is also encouraging the use of face masks and advising individuals to seek medical attention for any respiratory problems or allergies.
Authorities have further emphasized the importance of healthy eating and staying hydrated during this period.
