Ministry of Health continues with the implementation of the regulations of the Cancer Law
The Ministry of Health (Minsa), through the Cancer Prevention and Control Directorate (DPCAN), reported that progress continues with the implementation of the regulations of Law No. 31336, National Cancer Law; as well as its final complementary provisions.
Among the advances, the updating of the cancer prevention regulation in the work environment stands out, a regulation that was not updated for 27 years; In addition, the regulations of the Law that provide preventive measures against prolonged exposure to solar radiation that produces harmful effects for health, after 8 years of enactment, are about to be pre-published.
In this context, the administrative directive for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer was prepared, which is about to be approved; in such a way that the times in the diagnosis and treatment process are optimized.
Regarding interventions for health promotion, prevention and control of cancer, according to the epidemiological profile, this implementation began three months ago through the Concerted Development Plan, at the level of regional governments and local governments.
Prevention, diagnosis and treatment
Regarding territorial interventions to improve HPV vaccination coverage, 63 HPV vaccination brigades will be implemented for 3 months, with special emphasis on prioritized regions: Amazonas, Loreto, San Martín and Ucayali; where the budget for mobilization through waterways is contemplated. This seeks to close the HPV vaccination gap generated by the pandemic.
Regarding comprehensive cancer coverage, INEN has prepared and published normative documents for the diagnosis and treatment of cancer; In addition, the PCRIS, INEN and the INS will begin the development of five clinical practice guidelines on cancer prevention and control. Read More…
