Morocco Shines at 2024 Paralympics: Rajae Akermach Wins Bronze in Para-Taekwondo
Morocco's Rajae Akermach has added to the country's medal haul at the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris, clinching the bronze medal in the +65 kg category (K44) para-taekwondo event. This marks the second bronze medal for Moroccan para-taekwondo athletes, following Ayoub Adouich's earlier achievement.
With Akermach's bronze medal, Morocco's total medal count at the Paris Paralympics now stands at four, comprising one silver and three bronze medals. This is a significant improvement from the previous Moroccan Olympic delegation.
In addition to Akermach's bronze medal, Moroccan track athlete Fatima Zahra El Idrissi won the silver medal in the women's 1500-meter (T13) event, achieving a personal best time of 4 minutes and 22.98 seconds.
Earlier in the competition, Moroccan athletes Aymane El Haddaoui and Ayoub Adouich earned bronze medals in the men's 100 meters (T47) for track and para-taekwondo (K44) events, respectively.
Since its debut at the 1988 Seoul Paralympics, Morocco has accumulated a total of 38 medals: 16 gold, 11 silver, and 11 bronze. Of these, 34 medals have been won in para-athletics.
Morocco's success at the 2024 Paralympics is a testament to the country's commitment to promoting para-sports and supporting its talented athletes.
